With ARGON8X, the British manufacturer MODAL Electronics presents an 8-voice polyphonic wavetable synthesiser with 32 oscillators, revolutionary features and direct access to all sound-shaping parameters. Its 61 standard-size keys allow for velocity-sensitive and - via aftertouch - particularly expressive playing of its sounds. Using an optional controller, the ARGON8X also supports MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) for even more expressive performances. The crisp OLED display shows the settings of the currently selected controller and its effect on the sound. A total of 180 hand-picked wavetables in 36 banks are available for selection, which can be morphed into each other. In addition, these can be changed completely with 32 modifiers such as waveshaper, wavefolder and phaseshaper. The morphable multimode filter further shapes the sound and, if desired, gives it the necessary pinch of "analogue warmth". Using the integrated arpeggiator and the polyphonic 64-step sequencer, the sounds can be animated to your liking and then refined with up to 4 high-quality effects simultaneously. With the free, cross-platform MODALapp, all functions of the synth can also be edited on the screen conveniently.
